Well I took an expensive (330.00) chance last month on an 8mm marked M41 Carcano. Hoping it was a true German conversion. I'll let the experts decide. The serial number is H2747 and is on the barrel and receiver. The old number has been defaced. No renumber on the stock or on the bolt and no later wood block in the mag well. It does have the Heinrich Krieghoff marking.

Photos galore!!

It's outside the published serial number range, but the Germans were doing a lot of experimentation at the time.

I'm sure the "experts" (especially the butt from Germany) will scoff mightily, but I feel this is a case of never say never.

A very interesting addition to the collection in any case! SW

Thanks

I was reading some past info from "butt" and there was a 3 digit number carbine listed there as original but also out of the serial range. I like it!

Mark,
Isn't the one marking Tiro a Segno Nazionale (Two crossed rifles superimposing a bullseye target stamped on barrel or stock)?

It is after looking at it closer the crossed rifle accuracy mark but I have never seen it on the stock before. My guess is it was for the original 6.5 rifle that the stock came from. There are none of the markings on the metal of the rifle.

Well thanks for posting good pics. I can never see anything with my bare eyes, but a good camera close-up helps a great deal.

Same here.

If I see anything that even closly looks like a marking I take a photo of it and go from there.
