A sniper model!!! I had NO idea!! I've got a few of these, and man did the value ever take off just now! I don't drink or go to bars, and I guess I miss a lot of really obscure gun information like this that way.

Man, where do people come up with this stuff? But as I chuckled to myself, I plugged in the minimum bid since it has Krnka device attachment points. I didn't get the bid and am not disappointed - I think the fellow is going to have this one in the family for a lo-o-o-o-o-ong time! SW

whats up with the "LIGHT INLAYS" in that walnut stock ?

I'm not sure, but they seem well done. At this point, I have to assume they are simply decorative and were added by a former owner.

I've looked a lot of Vetterlis over and have never seen it before. SW

wonder what the reserve is ? its not met yet , whats one of these worth ?

the pattern of the inlays is odd , the forestock area repeats right-left and apprears to have a bottom element , but the butstock/wrist is not matched left-right , at first i suspected deactivated or dt'd purpose repairs ? but im not thinking thats really what it is

$125 is about what this one is worth - especially with the shipping the guy wants.

Many of these were actually used for drill purposes but were not de-milled or marked like the Bulgarian M.95 trainers.

The Krnka device attachment points were added when the rifle was still an 1870 single shot in 10.4x47R I suppose it's possible the inlays are related to some rapid loading experiment but doubt it. It didn't take the Italians long to adopt the Vitali magazine system.

The Krnka device was essentially a wire frame arrangement into which a paper box of ammuntiion was placed. In theory, rounds would feed from the paper box and make a repeater of the single shot.

It was marginally functional at the range, but when on the wrong end of a bayonet attack, it didn't seem such a good idea. Any vigorous movement spilled remaining cartridges from the paper box.

I've no idea how many rifles were fitted with the attachment points, but I'm still after one for my collection. SW

Do you think the 'decorative' wood inlays are actually dowel plugs to keep the stock from splitting?
