I took a chance the other day when one of the members here forced me into
buying one of the few TS Carbines that didn't get the hack job into one of those mystery 8mm Carbines.

This one was a bit scary looking but the price was right and after 4 days of oil and 0000 steel wool the metal cleaned up almost perfect. I have not retouched this bluing at all.

Then there was the shellac job on the stock and half of the metal parts. I cleaned all that off and reoiled it 4 times and she looks good to me.

I did find it odd that the site has no caliber marking even though it is a 6.5! Also no import markings.

Since it was made so late in the war, the sight was probably taken from a pile that had not been stamped with caliber. It may or may not have the right height for the notch. SW

No this was not reblued. I really was impressed with this one. I have others that I have used this process on and have had great luck but not as nice as this one.

I have never thought of that! But if I did use it they would bug me to death about it. Just like the poly stuff. One time and I'll never live it down! :rotflma: :rotflma:

Well, let's look at it from an automotive perspective... What would you have to say if I painted my stock 1929 Model A candy apple red and put wide whites on it?

Okay, YOU would like it, but the Model A collecting community as a whole? :jok: :crzy: :rotflma:   SW

**just kidding!!! Please put that can o' spray poly stuff away!! :-o :crzy: **

And I wouldn't stop there! A flat head & running gear from a 50 Merc or Lincoln... lower the roof... get a flat top hair cut... no - wait; I already have one of those! 8-) :crzy:

Well, I have made too much of the whole poly stuff issue and have posted a peace offering of pics in "another forum" :Thnku: :daz: :drnk: SW

Hello Mybusa - I have a similar rifle, serial # RA 77480, no calber mark on rear sight. My question for you is,what is the lion mark on the butt plate?
Best regards - Tom

Mybusa isn't feeling well - just heard from him a few days ago. The lion is a dedicated FNA mark seen mainly on late war butt plates.

Oddly, I have an even later war M91/38TS - in the RB letter block - that has a caliber marked rear sight and still in 6.5 caliber.

The vast majority were converted to 8mm.

Welcome to the madness! :welcome: :nube: SW
