oh, snap! thanks for the link. why do these things always show up at the worst times?? I've been off work since aug 4th and spent most of my play money getting my "new" motorhome worked on. if that rifle's still there in a couple weeks, i'm gonna be all over it. that would just leave a torino

on another note, I just got a call last night for a job in Rawlins, WY that starts on sept. 28, maybe we can finally meet up at one of the gunshows in cheyenne?
extremely happy it isn't another job in north dakota, cause the milsurp market up there was horrible. You can tell the rifle market is lousy when you spend 8 months there and come home with a 40 ford pickup, a 41 international pickup, a '73 FMC motorhome, and a winchester model 94 in 30-30! like I needed another expensive hobby.

Torino should be the easy one - they made about 125,000. Brescia made 50,000 but Beretta only made 20,000 and you just NEVER see them in this country. My acquaintances on an Italian forum haven't seen one, either.

just my luck i guess. the only torino i've seen in the last several years was modified to 91/24(a model I don't collect), and then sporterized.
kinda like with the mosins. I've managed to find some very rare models/variations, but never seem to be able to find one made at chatellerault. and they made just over 500,000 rifles there for the russians. yet I found 2 1927 tikka's with stepped barrels in one day, and they made 3,000 of those! I really shouldn't complain, not for having very good luck in some areas. I guess if you're gonna try to collect rifles that were made around 120 years ago and went through more than one war, I should expect to wait a little.
the nice thing about it is that there are old carcano's hiding in closets and attics all over the country from the imports back in the 60's, and as the people who own them get older and pass them on, a lot of them wind up back on the market. we should have plenty to pick from over the years.
