I believe this is it. Napoleone e Vittorio Castelli of Brescia. NVCB The usual suspects in Italy tell me fewer than 1000 pieces by this maker. Most are reported to be for the civilian trade = bank guards or forestry.

I've only ever seen one photo & just got this at auction last night. My friend in Italy tipped me off and another friend confirmed it.

After checking to see if either was bidding, I threw way more at it than I should have but was able to get it for a fraction of that.

I don't have it in hand yet but will post detailed pics when I do.

Tiny details, friends! Pay attention to the tiny details!! SW

That is picking one out of the blue if it didn't cost two arms and a leg.

$210 and I was elated to get it for such a low price. There can't be a half dozen of these in the country. SW

Let me amend that to a half dozen in the WORLD! Just got off the phone from Italy & the big hitters tell me this is rare with a capital R!

Like the only one they have ever seen or heard of. Seems Castelli made fewer than a thousand M91/28s & M91TS but apparently just a handfull of cav carbines. I just posted questions on an Italian site to see what they know.

The rear sight on this one is maked '3' which indicates that was the original serial number.

The big hitters ( and I ) believe the Albanians re-numbered it for some obscure reason. And botched the EP serial number on the receiver.

Dang! I love it when I take a chance & get lucky! :jmp: :rotflma: I'll be getting a scratch card later on today - just got in from work. SW

Looks like someone without the proper screwdriver was working on the rear sight screws. From what little I know about those it looks good.
