50 cal or 50 mm ? Remember seeing those at about every flea market as a kid. But then again you could find WWII Garand bayos by the score for about $5 too. |

Caliber has something to do with the size of the barrel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caliber_%28artillery%29 Rad |

Navy 3 inch 50 cal. means barrel length is 50 times shell size or 3 inch shell = 150 inch (12.5 Feet)long barrel. The shells are 32 and 35 inches tall. The shorter one is the younger of the 2 and has a removable drill fuse that could be put into the fuze setter and set as the real time fuze was. |

Good idea Herr Mario, but it makes me wonder if I'd survive doing it. Wife is a bit testy about my adding more of "those things" to my collection('pile'). |

Nice! I have one like the one on the right, I cleaned up the wood and painted the tip, had to buy the fuse separate cause they didn't have any. If anyone really wants one I found a place that still has them but the shipping is probably not cheap.I am still trying to find one of the metal practice bombs. |
