The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username. Pattern 1888 Mark 2 if I'm correct. Made by Wilkinson of Wilkinson Sword fame. Used on the MLM (Magazine Rifle Lee Metford) and MLE (Magazine Rifle Lee Enfield). It was not fitted on the SMLE.

Made in May 1891under the reign of Queen Victoria

im thinking its a mkI-2nd type , there doesnt look to be a clearing hole , and the spacing on the two rivets are too close for the mkII , made may of 1891 , whats that other thing in the photo ?

I stand corrected and agree with A Square. It is indeed a Pattern 1888 Mk I, 2nd Type.

One comment....the 2nd type does have a clearance hole and it can be seen to the rear of the new rivet ( Type One had two smaller rivets).

agreed mine has the clearing hole at the edge of the rivet , on both sides , goes clear thru - knida small ,

long lees , lee metford and lee enfield , it has the hole for the clearing rod so it can fit the old ones and the newer , the later bayos didnt have that option ,
