This is one of three banners that I had a shot at that were for two brothers going off to war. They're called lots of things, so I'm not sure what to call it.
"Cellebration" banners, "Farewell" banners, "Good Luck" banners....pick your poison.
If the other two are still there next week, then I'll have all three.

I just love this stuff. I definetly have spent more this year on this kind of stuff than rifles.

ive gotta admitt total ignorance here , but if real - i see your interest clearly , thats beautiful , and it looks colectible , and id have it as part of my rifle display so it would be an accoutrament ,
as to getting three - id do it if it was real , no problem , as i stated - i know nothing - so dont go by me ,

said very well , we live thru each other ,

i gotta say id go for that for the 'look' of it alone - its beautiful , and there craftmanship is superb -as is all things japanese , they are the people in this world i would strive to be like in that , i would say its not that far between our areas of interst - if one looks much of british bayonet design is based on the japanese , i have posted photos ,

much of the world were using each others rifles as well - there are brit marked arrisakas - m not able at this time to put myself in the catagory of collector that can get this far into it but wish i could ---idbe full time playing with all of this

excelent point don , i too have wondered that , its beautiful and obviously valuable , but at one time [perhaps even now] its value was not measured in $ but rather in what it said to the reciever from the senders

I have the transcription that came with it, but don't trust it.
I'm going with the general "two brothers going to war" thing for now...one day that I have time will equal a real read on it. I do promise.

Thats beautifull, in color and design balance.....though morbid in reality.

I hope it dosent translate into that oxymoron "Glorious Death". That has always struck me strange, that phrase...."Honorable", maby but I have yet to find Glory in death....maby that word is an "L" too much....

You wouldnt belive how many Japanese Ive met that say such things, even today
. They do see war in a WAY different way, and two brothers headed off to war must have impacted the whole family, terribly. Reality has its own effect.

Cool to collect , nontheless, like the belts with "A thousand stiches", or a Sword with nicks from hitting bone....
I'm thinking a nice sweet Geshia would brighten your abode....do they import those??? ;)

Beautiful banner oldarisaka. Good luck in your quest for more. It sure looks like it's been well cared for these past 60+ years.
