I see now what you meant several topics past about these being very similar to my Japanese bayonets.

ahhh yes - thats because your japanese T30s were the pattern for them , the british had a good number of japanese rifles being studied at the pattern rooms too ,
then later , when they decided to develop the new P1913 rifle they were using the springfeild M1903[mauser type] as an inspiration , and the original P1913 bayonet looked just like that P07 with the hooked quillon too - goes to show the brits knew a good thing when they saw it and that T30 was a well accepted thing

I'll go away after this, but they JUST LOOK SOOOOO JAPANESE! I'm looking for the Japanese marks! Sorry that I'm a slow convert to overall bayonet design and theory, and obviously a little more dense than some others, but wow...they look identical except for markings.
Thanks for the pics. I go to sleep a little more informed, and a little more embarased at my lack of it all.

please do not go away -

they are for all practical purposes japanses , and with that in my mind is a compliment to the japanese design - if you consider these soldiered from 1907 thru the end of wwII and actually beyond in modified form in the india/pakistan situation - it is a very durable design , and when you consider the P13/M17 connection it survived thru viet nam in our army as well , i think it is the simplicity and utility of design that created such a long lived blade bayonete

Lately I'm given to lame statements, but that was well said to someone just learning, like me.
Thanks.

nothing lame in that - it let me expound on the two things i know a litle about british rifles and US rifles/bayonets
im going to quickly add that there are many here who know much more than i on the specifics of both , my knowledge is very general - i get bogged down when i delve into a single piece , i did that with the mkV i bought because it was an investment i was hesitant about unless it was true to form[which it was]

besides - i know if i find a nice japanese piece or have a question in that area there are those of you that will enlighten me as well ,

oh , i guess id forgotten that id posted the diferance before - take note of the quillon it is distinctive on the T30 - they were quite carefull in detail in the japanse culture and you can bet it has a very definite reason for the additional material there [i can only guess - balance ?]

but the big thing in this post is value - i think you can still get a decent japanese T30 at $150 or less but now the brits are setting new highs - i think you could get one between $600-800 if you look but this ad sets it at nearly $2400 , im looking and saying thats the tag im hangin on mine till after i die :)

Thanks for reminding me of what the post was all about. That is some serrious wampum for a bayonet.

I say you should start buying Japanese stuff. For that kinda bling you could have a whole aray of stuff.

PS had to turn down the banners....thank you Writers Guild Of America...maybe they'll still be there next year when we all start working again. Anybody wanna buy a collection? Just kidding, I hope.

Don't know what that means...but I'm betting that the bayo is sharpened 2/3 of the way only...
It is very nice...my kind of stuff....
I should have a bayonet Fire sale, no paperwork.

You can have the AG-42B bayonet for $1.00...you just have to buy the Rifle for $900.00!!
