I just picked up a 16" long 1907 Wilkenson bayonet with lots of markings overstamps.
Crown logo over )& (to right) over LKINSOI (Wilkinson?)

39 over '31, #0755, crown or M over B3, CL.

Hilt opposite the release button is stamped O.T.C and B.D.D. over 43

Condition is about 65% stained rust pitting, blade is sharp and appears to be original grind (stained discolored edge) wood is very good and button works fine, no scabbard.

What do I have? What does it fit? I dont have any british weapons.

you give me way too much credit - im a novice - ill look to see what the markings O.T.C. , B.D.D. may be ,
the little crowns and numbers are inspectors stamps -

can you ID the two letters under the big crown above the 1907 ? that will tell us if it was an early hookie with its hook cut off "ER" 1901-1910 or a later "GR" 1911-1936 it sounds worn so im guessing an early one refurbed in eather case after WWI use

its a P1907 , it is for the no1 mkIII & III* rifles , and id say its as correct for a mkV as the dates work for that issue , between wars , the wilkinson guess is correct - no other mfgr will work with those letters

love to see pictures , think you have a great find , ill try to get data on the other marks posted

the O.T.C. is 'oficers training corps' according to the "ABREVIATIONS OF LAND FORCE UNITS"

the B.D.D. is still a mystery to me so far , but im thinking its a location - training base , school , something of that nature ?

The O.T.C. is as previously stated " Officer Training Corps"

The B.D.D. refers to Bradfield College see

I should have added that my source for the ID of the "BDD" is:

"The Identification of Buttstock Marking Discs in British Service 1900-1944" by Captain Peter Laidler

So what do you think this Bayonet is worth and an appropriete model rifle to hang it on?

I dont have any british rifles and frankly dont know what to do with thing?

Would like to see it go to a good home.

take a look on ebay, and then subtract a couple bucks, or just sell it on ebay. I watch over there for garand bayos, and I've seen alot of enfield stuff, but I can't remember any of the prices.

Or you could buy yourself a NoIMkIII and hang it on that :D
