Not so much on the way of militaria at this show, more coins and just plain guns, a few scattered bayos

Image

The jap bayo was a training blade according to the seller, it's pointy, but has no markings, and no edge on the blade, just a 39 on the wooden scale.

I'm watching a utica marked U C on ebay right now, it's dated 1943 or 2, I can't recall off-hand, so UFH is utica too? I bought a new bayo book, but it has more pictures than hard facts

Now you need to find a PAL and an Oneida Ltd. M1. I'm still looking for the OL to complete my collection.

Location: here ..Not there but here..I think.
I have a similar japanese bayo and did quite a bit of info digging
on them. Yours looks to be an earlier model trainer (by the looks of the hooked quillion) that being said I must tell you that quite a few of these trainers actually saw combat service in the pacific theater and the earlier hooked quillion models are actually fairly well made blades. I know this
from the info digging and the fact that that was how mine found it's way to the good ol USA. It was picked up off a Japanese soldier by an american GI after he lost a pressing argument with a sherman tank.

there is a pretty good chance yours might have come here by similar route.

It was an older fella I bought it from, but he didn't have any good stories about how he got it, or it got here. After seeing all other bayos with an edge at least, I'd feel a little inadequate with this one in a combat situation. Maybe it might have had some psychological impact for either side, though.

I bought so many books on collecting stuff, it's going to take me a few weeks to have any idea about anything :-o Information overload :lol
