the second definetly reflects that moment in time - i hope noone becomes offended as its not worth that and is a very valid sentioment in the aftermath of pearl harbor ,

besides there were equaly demonstrative propaganda literatures found on saipan , they resulted in the infamous suicide event on the cliffs there - based on the premise that the evil americans would rape and torture the japanese there and eat their children ,

propaganda worked both ways and were equally offensive --we also dropped leaflets predicting the destruction on bomb targets of mainland japan , recomending the civilian population evacuate , there was no excuse for the population of most targets to be present when the attack came , and although the atomic bomb was dropped on a secondary target it had been warned as well

I need to find out if the place still is in operation. Prolly not.
It's a sign from the times is all.
Nobody here wants the wanton hurting of anybody. That should be a given.
Racism was the reason the casualty count was so high on both sides.
We thought they couldn't see straight and would just stand up and get shot. They thought we were morally corupt and would break and run under a charge, we gave them heavy volume of fire instead.
This was a time when racial warfare seemed reasonable....they were both caught up in it. Neither side was immune.
Given the fact that there has never been any real reconcilliation on the whole bloody affair, It's strange that there is any (if shaky) common ground to be had.
That there is, I'm glad.

im not sure id classify it as racism , perhaps im not in tune , but it seems to me it was as much a product of ignorance of the other culture as anything - fueled by the propaganda ,

i think the "common ground developed out of a mutual 'learning and respect' that came out of the strugle , again i may be entirely off here tho

Again, we're into guesswork and theory...don't get me wrong, I love to spout about theory...(4GW...there said it), but a lot of this stuff is being bought by Americans who travel savy to Japan and buy the stuff up, bring it back and sell it to dealers. Or by Japanese who buy it up, bring it over in bulk and make killer deals with dealers...
Think.."from Garage sale to garage sale, with an international twist".
Only a small percentage of the population there see any redeeming quality in the item, and there's a growing number here who will pay for such things. I call it capitalism, affected by the strongly entrenched anti-war movement in Japan, and the fact that the country(Japan) still has yet to fully own up to what it did.
These type items are under-valued, if not shunned by a large segment of the (Japanese) population, IMHO.
That is my OPINION.. Anyone who wishes to add or detract is more than welcome. Really.
