i need to photograph mine - ill post the pic when i get them taken ,

ive collected a number of diferent versions of US slings , anybody else get nutty over these acoutrament things ?

here is a few shots taken of my mills tropical sling for the krag rifle , i believe these date to about 1898-99 , the original krag slings were M1888 leather tied at the butt swivel then looped over the upper and clawed back into punched holes

but this one was interesting as it resembles the 'new' british sling of the same time period , not sure who copied who - but i know this is a far more complicated sling/hardware setup





im having fun with this guess ill photo some more and post even if no one else cares

I'm paying attention. Looking forward to more pics. You teach me, and I don't have to buy some $150 book!!

...those look like darn near the same type slings I had that came on 2 No.4 Mk1's I had and traded off..........

it does , but it is quite a bit longer and has those snug little brass keepers ,

not sure im much of an educater , but ill post more photos - try to get to another or two later today ,

heres the typical commonwealth on my eddystone P1914 rifle



note the offset of the swivel for the volley sights

this is the version made for the M1917 shown on my winchester [theres one on my remington M1917 as well]






and here is the version for the M1903 , this one is on my springfeild M1903A1





note trhat the lower strap clip is hooked over the sling at the bottom connection as opposed to the extra metal ring that is on the M1917 version , i realise its not readily discernable but this one is shorter than the M1917 version as well - the sling swivels are spaced diferently
