I'm writing a story which is set shortly after WWII (1951, if this makes any difference). As I understand it, members of the British army at this stage would be using a Lee-Enfield rifle, which has an attachment for a bayonet. Can anyone tell me any specifications of the bayonet that would be most commonly be used? Was it the spike bayonet or the bladed version? Most importantly, how large was such a weapon? If it makes any difference, I am particularly interested in the weapon that would be used by a Corporal in 1951 - was there a tendency for certain ranks / people with a certain amount of experience to use a particular model? Thanks in advance. |
