THAT must have hurt ... Hitlerjugend helmet found in 1944 near an exploded flak emplacement. I hope the kid was not wearing it at the time ... Best Regards, A

Ouch isn't the word! Poor HJ kid probably did not survive the explosion. Same for many of those drafted into the Volkssturm. Barely a teenager and facing down T-34s. SW

at 13 I think I would rather fight and die than to be overrun by the brutal bolsheviks. The helmet looks more like it was used for target practice than just shrapnel. Looks about in the same shape of an old US steel pot we were shooting out in the woods (probably around age 13 ) |

First tour in Viet Nam, my 1943 helmet had quite a ding in it. I did my best to see that it collected no more. SW |
