Just got this at auction this afternoon. $75 and no other bidders! They usually go for at least double that!

I see them on eGun.de for big big Euros, too so they must be good property over there.

Andrey,

If you can find them for 50 Euros there, you can make a big profit on them here! SW

Well, all righty then! 8-)

The plan for this bayonet was to be mounted on the rifle and left there - like the bayonet on the Italian cavalry carbines.

That idea just never gained acceptance. For one thing, it destroys the balance of the rifle and just doesn't look right.

And if you're thinking the folding bayonet doesn't appear to be the strongest arrangement, you are right! I would be very leery of exchanging compliments with one lest it fold at the wrong moment. The fixed M38 bayonet - last type ( of four types) was the best of this series. As strong as the M91 bayonet but shorter.

When Italy sold about 100,000 M38s to Finland, they included slings... and folding bayonets. In a link above in this forum, a Finn writes tells us the Finns hated the folding bayonets and simply threw most of them away. Allegedly, they were not even good for opening cans of rations.

You don't see these very often and they usually bring a lot more than $75. SW

I did see one like that last year, but it was way more expensive. Somewhere over 125 if I remember correctly.
