Started out shooting a Romanian AK that i got for a Friend Mike ,,Who died before he ever shot it.My old boss Paul got it and i laid eyes on it for the first time yesterday.So i got to do the first 30 rounds down it.Mike loaded the clips and never got to be able to empty them.We had a blast and it was dead on too.



Then we got out a few of mine today to show Jim how to shoot the 2 different rifles and loading tips.

+1 BR,having own both I would take the SKS over the ak everytime.handloading and shooting cast bullets the SKS has always been more accurate.the SKS has less barrel whip.
being a 7.62X39 fan thats why I picked up the ruger M77 in that cal.

like the looks of all of em , but the SKS is the only one i know anything about

I have 4 or 5 AK's and 3 or 4 SKS's, 3 of the SKS's are dead on. My AK's function very well but the Hungarian and Polish are not near as accurate as the SKS's.

But my home built Romanian AK is also very accurate. At 300 yards it was making a mess of some melons placed on a hillside.

I like both but my two SKS's that are very accurate are a Russian and Chinese build. I really like the thump hole SKS stock. Who is the maker of it?

mine is chinese , its not bad but i wont claim it has the accuracy of my US rifles ,

I have one Chinese left and it is pretty accurate, I can put a stripper clip into a paper plate at 100 years as long as I can see it. No where near the accuracy of my Springfield or my other hunting rifles but good enough. Down here they are the redneck deer rifle of choice, kinda like the Model 94 of the South in some places I have lived and they work just fine. I have never had an AK that would match an SKS in accuracy, and have never had reliability problems with any SK.I have seen it put this way, the AK Is a better weapon the SKS is a better rifle.

I have a Yugo SKS and am ashamed to say I've only had it out once, about a year ago.....that's just sick.

I really like the sks that takes the ak mags, you get the accuracy of the sks and the high capacity fast reload of the ak in one package. Of course the ak was made to lay down a lot of rounds quick and work in any environment. The ak was always a semi auto.
