Took the RPD out just now & ran a belt + through it and it ran GREAT! I'm actually glad it's SA - these don't have a quick change barrel & barrels ain't cheep anyway. Sure didn't take it long to get hot!

I clearly recall seeing these in Viet Nam that had gotten so hot the handguard had actually ignited. And that being the case, the barrel was no doubt washed out.

Now to dig out my Small Arms of the World to see how to take it down for a good cleaning... and order another drum & an extra belt or 2.

Life is good!! :jmp: SW

....boy,I can just see you driving around these parts with that thing stowed comin back from the range with a big grin onyer face(not realizing you were doin 6mph over the limit and gettin stopped by one of our over zealous State Troopers  )...and since you couldnt wipe that grin off yer face and speak coherently he calls for backup and they find that.... and the next thing you know you got SWAT teams and Homeland Security along with Janet Incompetano there in person claiming they nailed a terrorist on the way to DC
:ow: :-o :ow: :-o :ow: :-o :ow: ....you'd make the news BIG time... :rotflma:   :fny: ;) :Dbounce:

My SAotW was finally good for something. Got it clear apart & back together all right. Wolf ammo really craps up a gun but it's not corrosive and it's fairly cheep at Cabelas. SW

About the only negative point about these is the non-disintegrating ammo belt. It tends to catch on things like when you're running through the shrubs.
But I suppose you won't be doing a lot of that
Very nice gun. The one they had at the range is sold, so unfortunately I couldn't enquire about the price. It was full-auto so I guess a collector bought it to have it demilled.

Good point about the belt. In Viet Nam, the MG guy humped his M60 with a 25 round "teaser belt" in place. When festivities began in earnest, the gunner or a-gunner simply snapped a longer belt onto the short one already in place and blasted away.

I was following the civil war in Libya just now & see the newer Sov bloc MGs still use a non-disintigrating belt. Which probably isn't a big problem if you're shooting from your 'technical'.

Wearing a hyena hide probably puts fear into the enemy, too... especially if they get a good smell of it! :crzy: SW

It's a magical hyena skin.
Known to stop all enemy bullets.
Much better protection than some fancy flakjacket.
I'm planning to have one made out of porcupine skin, it gives you the added advantage that you always have room on the bus or train.
