Attention New Members and those new registering!
We had a lot of problems with spammers and bot attacks with the stock measures provided by the software. The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username.
If you come back on and your login does not work retry with your username without the 7.

Thanks for joining us from the administration.

A friend brought over an SKS he'd had trouble with, specifically unintended burst fire.

I'd suspected the common problem of soft primers and no recoil spring but tests showed no tendency to dent primers.

{edited} to correct misconception.

Finally remembered that the gas piston and op rod are two different parts. The return spring being on the shorter op rod.

After cleaning a large amount of carbon and grit fouled cosmo or grease from the gas tube and op rod tube I found that the firing pin will now indent a primer when the bolt is allowed to fly forwards and slam loads the cartridge.

The crud in the gas system had slowed the bolt operation to some extent, but was probably not the real cause of the doubling and burst fire.

Now its all cleaned out and lubed, next step will be ordering a replacement firing pin with return spring.
