After dis-assembling and learning how it works, I finally made it to the range this morning. The only thing I did wrong so far is my choice of ammo, 1944 Turk. I firmly believe this rifle shoots straighter than it did today, the Turk was all over the place, 12" groups from a rest @ 50yds one failure to fire, bad primer. I have a box of commercial and will try again later this week. Recoil was as a Garand, pretty loud though, functioned like it was new, really like this beast! 10rd mag gives me lots of bang-bang before reloading.

burn rate in the turk ammo is a little off for these rifles. Some guys have made 2 extra notches on the gas adjustment to make the turk ammo work better. I just use romanian ammo in mine.
Turk ammo may not cause any immediate problems, but i'd worry about receiver stretch over long term.

I've found these to be very accurate offhand in rapid fire. great battle rifle. y'all have a good day, Keith

Glad I was right! What firepower this thing has! I recommend one for everybody. I'll trade off the remainder of the Turk for what Romanian I sold to a friend. It came in a spam can, strippers and was a tad milder. Forgot to mention the muzzle break, or is that a flash hider? Anyway, it kept the muzzle down. KEEPER FER SURE!!!

IF only Aks were as accurate as Hakims. :cry:

Hakims are about as accurate as the ammo if the bore has not been abused.

I tried a few today, no luck. I left all the powder in and tamped some cotton, just a fart is all I got. Will try again using the same only sealing with wax. FYI, 7.62x54r chambered just fine.

Sorry, should have done just that. It didn't work and I may try another this week. When the A guage arrives, it may make reforming a moot point.
