I have an "AL" marked Luxumberg 30-06, though the flash hider is gone and the kinks in the recoil springs make me cringe......"BUT" the fiddle back walnut stock is probley the best looking stock I own!

nice looking rifle - why the fire pin change ?

I had an 8mm Egyptian 49 slam fire on me on the second shot. The firing pin was a two piece and I still don't know how it occurred. Absolutely scared the ***t out of me.

OK , im following that , neather the slam fire nor the FA for a full mag would be a 'pleasant' suprise , i agree oldnavy that would scare the $#!^ out of me and probably anyone about as well

The scary part was that the bolt was not completely locked when it fired and half the case stayed in the chamber and the rest took off who knows where. I looked for it. It did not disintegrate or there would have been brass particles everywhere. The interesting part was that at 100 yards the two holes in the target were about about 3/4 inch apart.

I ave one of these in 7mm. I have shot it with no problems. I also read about the firing pin issues. I think it was primarly in the 8mm model. Mine is all original and I intend to keep it that way. I guess you could swap it out and save the old one incase you sell it. Some people shot 8mm machine gun ammo through them, I think that might have been part of the problems.
