maybe the gas valve needs adjusted

Surplus rifle says this


The Hakim Gas valve, set in the “Normal” Position, it’s pointed back at the Rifle’s receiver.

The “Normal” setting for this valve is when the tip of the piece of pie is facing directly back at the rifle’s receiver (figure 2) and will generally allow the Hakim to function with about any 8mm round. To decrease the amount of gas used in the system, turn the valve clockwise with the rifle’s muzzle pointed downrange, to increase it, turn it counter-clockwise. A note should be added here to not adjust the valve counter-clockwise past the “normal” setting, as the valve will fly apart and is a bit of a challenge to get back together.

Does a round feed into the chamber by hand? Do you have any cerrosafe to do a chamber cast? (oops just saw it would feed manually)

Is the spring too weak? (although it didn't seem so when I lookedat it) ODD!

that was my thought as i read down, as the valve does have an "off" setting. glad to hear it's workin for ya!

I don't get it? When you fired a round, it would not eject the brass? Or would it eject but not feed the next round out of the magazine properly?
How is that operator error?

Bruce, he was riding the bolt forward by hand, not letting it ram home on its own. Thus the bolt never engaged so you couldn't fire it.

Is that possible with the Hakim? What I remember after loading it, you push the cover forward slight 'til it clicks.....then pull back a bit & WHAM!!

hell , thats possible with the M1 rifle , carbine , M14 , AR , and the various handguns of the 1911 vintage , you gotta let her slam home to get into battery

i didnt realise you were using cast bullets , ive had trouble with that as well , hope you get it fixed
