OK, Does anyone out there own a PTR 91? I have one on hold that I am about to buy, but I can't find any reviews on the rifle. I think that $800 is a bargin for the price , but how good is the rifle. As I understand, they are copys of the H&K G3 made on the same equipment here in the states. So is this a worthy rifle for purchase?

Fired a freinds back in PRNJ. It shot well enough.

nice looking rifle - looks fun to own and shoot , i think you may need to consider relocating subhunter ....but at least they have not curtailed your bayo buying

They can try to ban all the guns they want, but don't forget you have the ammo manufactures beating you up on the other end. THe stuff is up 300%, and my local gun guy said they are going to raise them again after the New Year. NO BULLETS then the gun is no good. Thats why they don't want us to have the bayonet lug

My brother HAD a PTR-91. It had more recoil because of the heavy bolt than any other 308 gun I've shot. Ruined two of my brothers scopes (cheap ones I admit), He decided to dump it and get an FAL. The FAL and AR-10B I have are more comfortable to shoot IMHO. The true advantage of the PTR-91 is it's cheap to make in vast quantities for military applications. If you have to have a German designed battle rifle, the PTR-91 is better made than most G3's and G3 cloned out there. I highly suggest you try someone else's G3 style rifle before you buy, and try other battle rifles. You'll stay with whatever you finally put money down for a lot longer and be happier with it.
