Well, I was up in The Cities this last weekend, took the 22 out to the Burnsville Pistol Range, and was having a good go of it. Maybe I'll get some pics of the targets up...

Anyway... got a few mis-fires, didnt think much of it, going through 550 round boxes of ammo like butter you'll occasionally get a dud.

Well, it started happening a little more than just what would be a wonky box of ammo. I noticed that the ends of the shell were only getting hit what looked just barely on the edge of the rim... then not at all.

Now my Browning is a paperweight. But I'm not upset. I'm guessing its just as simple as a firing pin. Which wouldn't surprise me cause I am guessing I've put over 5,000 rounds through it since I got it. God only knows how much the previous owner put through it.

Any opinions?

I'd agree most likely the firing pin. If it's a new gun, there may be a warrantee. If you don't go that route, best pick up 2-3 extra pins since you burn that much ammo, and don't want to be caught without.

My first and best solution for broken guns is thus;

Dissasemble and scrub.
Then you will know whats wrong, gunk and broken parts, and the you'll see if the former owner did any thing more than wipe the outside.
.22LR is very dirty, especially with short barrled autos, where unburnt powder is flying everywhere. Could just be bound up...seen it plenty in 10/22 Rugers.

Good start to figguring it out.
