At the range yesterday with my Browning Hi Power and Demon Murphy decided to show up and play. Starting the second round of 25 shots I fired and when I recovered to line up for the next round, the front sight was GONE! Sheared right off. No idea where it went either. More than a little annoyed too. I was doing extremely well for a change. No matter, the range gunsmith actually had a replacement set on hand which he promptly installed. Went back to range to try out the new sights today. Did OK but now the smith has me thinking that a trigger job might be a good thing to have done. :ak:

Your HP has a dovetailed front sight?

I have experience with HP trigger jobs. Giving the magazine safety a toss will reduce weight. Something else that helps is to get an enhanced leverage trigger bar from Cylinder & Slide in Fremont, Nebr. Moves the pivot point back .250" and helps a LOT! Drill one hole and away you go!

Stoning the sear? Yeah, that can work, but go slow. Cut & try. I'd be more about polishing surfaces than removing metal. SW

Yup, my Hi Power has a dovetailed front and rear sight. The best I can figure it is a police turn in from Britain or Israel. If I do something about the trigger, I plan to be chicken little. I don't have the confidence to do that kind of work myself. If I do anything about the trigger, the gun smith will do the work. Thank you for the input on options for trigger work.

Well, I did get the trigger done. Yes, I am chicken little as the gunsmith did the work. It kinda looks like I know what I'm doing. Needless to say, I'm a happy boy with it right now. I need to get a picture that will fit within the requirements of the forum software.

I pulled the mag safety out of my Argentine Hi Power. It damn near took three hands to get the trigger assembly back in, but it shoots soooooo much better!
