not true - i thought i posted to this early this morning , shortly after 7 , eather i hit the wrong button or dreamed it , or it went away as some of my others have ,

im looking at the sig and sayin i like it better than the glocks , not having touched eather im going by shear appearance , cosmetics if you will , and the wrightups , but i like these ,

now im back to saying - why dont i have any money ?

I know the board was acting wonky around 2am last night.

My brother asked me specifically to look at these while at the shot show. His department cheif is talking about re-arming the dept with them. Being the weapons instructor, my brother is reluctant to change from the simplicity of the Glock without very good reason.

Anyway, I looked them over and handled them and am actually quite impressed. I've never been particularly fond of Sig handguns. The serialized part is an internal frame with trigger and firing mechanism. This can be switched between three different sized grip frames to fit individual shooters. It actually feels much like a Glock, which is a plus in my book. It is a double action only design with no external safety (just like a Glock). The ones I tried at the show had a very smooth trigger pull. I don't know if that is standard on production models or if they had the triggers tuned and polished on the guns they took to the show.

I'm still not sold on the caliber switching part of the equation mainly because the recoil system remains the same in the change. My thiking would be if it's light enough to function 9mm, then switching to .40 s&w would beat it apart in short order. If properl;y tuned for .40, then switching to 9mm would lead to failure to feed reliably. But this remains to be seen.

If this design turns out to be as reliable as the Glock design, then I believe it will be a good issue weapon for law enforcement. Glock's virtal monopoly may be in trouble.

I recomemended my brother to get a couple to try and put them through the ringer. Put them up side by side with the Glocks in a several thousand round extended endurance test and see if they hold up.

The reason why I carry a Glock is because every time I pull the trigger, it goes bang. I've never had a FTF with my Glock.

If, and that's a very big if, this new Sig can prove itself as reliable as the Glock, then I would have no problem with my brother's department switchig to them and may even consider one for carry myself. But until the endurance and reliability is proven, I'm not giving up my Glock just yet.
