Well I have been looking and looking to try to find a good P38 for some time. I have noticed all the recent import P38's are around $500+ no matter what the maker. I found this P38 CYQ all matching except the mag which has no serial number. Also it's not import marked. Even though CYQ is the most common I really wanted one that was not import marked. It was also a lot less expensive than the imports. The finish is rough like most of the CYQ's and there is some surface rust, most of which I got off. Not sure if I will try to get another or not.

Gun looks good. has character. been there done that is much more to my liking than one that looks like it was never used (in a p-38 anyway)

That rust ain't too bad, just a bit of surface rust that gives it authenticity. I'd rather have that than a reblue, for sure. When people say "rust" on a WW2 German gun, I think of the guns I used to see when I was a kid that had deeply etched blood rust spots on them. That's rust, but also a brand of authenticity. I had a Radom P.35 once that had a shrapnel hole in the slide, not all the way through. That metal is very hard; you can't get a gouge like that in if from dropping it on a rock.
