I know we used the conversions on the first firing in Boot camp. If you did good with the 22 they would let you shoot for marksman with the 45. Not sure who made the conversions though.

Ceiner makes them too, not sure how well a Kimber convertion functions, and whether it's cheap. I have a Colt Conversion from the 70's but got tired of swapping it on and off, so I keep it on an Essex frame. Works great, and the only problem I have is that some mags won't keep the slide open on the last shot. Good training and plinking gun. It gives about the same accuracy as the .45 would.

bruce i was going to tag that - but you were quicker , i do not have first hand experience tho ,

i think ceinar is out as much as three months right now - ive had a conversion on order for the AR for a few weeks now - my son needed cheap shooting and has mine [easy come / easy go]
