The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username. Well I my cousin came today and gave the pistol back to me. It is still in good shape except the missing bakelite grips the only thing left of them was just around the grip screws and it was very crumbly when Iremoved the screws to start cleaning it. I guess I will try to find original grips or maybe make some new grips. The pistol is marked PIStTOLEtT AUTOMATIQUE CAL 7.65. MAB BREVETE MODELE D.

I'm not sure if yours is a WW2 or prior. I think it's post war. I can't see in the photo it it has the external nut holder (sorry don't know the real word for it). Does it have a fixed rear sight or a small adjustable one? Here is a WW2 era pistol. You can see why the grips are gone! Also you can see the nut holder thingy under the barrel towards the front.

Ok

I'll let you know how these repo grips are when I get them. I also am trying to buy a police one like the photo but it has newer grips on it and if I get it if your interested you can have them. Here is the photo's of the gun and grips.

Those grips would do until I could locate a set of more original looking grips. I woulfd be interested in the grips if you pick up the gun.

I was lucky and got the pistol. It also came with a set of repo grips from the same company I ordered a bunch of grips from. The grips I ordered are great and fit well with a little work in the screw hole areas for depth. How ever the repo grips that came with the pistol the holes did not line up with the gun so I had to oblong them to get it to fit. I'm going to contact the company to see if they have changed the pattern.

New repo grips

Target grips which are much more comfortable but not pre WW2 like my pistol.

Other markings for the police issue.

Here is the correct link for your French MAB D pistol repo grips. They are not bad in price at all and look alot better then the target ones I took off of mine.
