I was at a gun place in Maine and I was buying yet another 1909 Argentine carbine, and checking out a ruby pistol I had put on hold when the guy pulls from under the counter and puts in front of me a japanese nambu,German Luger , and this war time Mauser HSC pistol. Now the luger nad the nambu were no great deal, but the mauser was not bad. I had them hold it for me so I could go home and do some research. I was back up there in about three weeks and got it. It has the proofs and the acceptance marks.some butthead scratched his initals on one of the grips. and I am not sure the holser is the correct one for the pistol but it is the one it was carryed in.

I think you need to go back for the other two also! I have yet to read up on the HSC's I'm leary of them because so many were made well after the war and I don't want to get taken while looking for a ww2 or older one.

That HSc looks pretty nice. The WaA135 mark is an acceptance mark for the German Army, so technically it's a military pistol. Those initials scratched on it could date all the way back to a GI who took it as a souvenir. I've heard and read lots of stories about how German pistols were prized as souvenirs by US soldiers, and a lot of thievery took place among them. That threat encouraged some soldiers to scratch their initials on pistols and holsters. They probably didn't think writing down the serial number was good enough, because a thief knew the guy he stole it from didn't have a receipt to prove ownership.

I can't tell you if the holster is good to the gun; many different versions of the pocket-pistol type holsters were made. Take a look inside the holster and see if the wear marks on the leather seem to match up to the profile of the pistol. That might tell you something if the that pistol has been in that holster a long time (like a veteran bring-back piece would be).

The holster that is shown with it is a correct holster. It is/was a one holster fits all for many of the German or German allies small pistols. I have one with a 1944 made 1935 Beretta in it and the inside worn/rubbing markings match the pistol and the spare magazine exactly.

Thats good to know. I have a couple with the same type of holsters.
