Here are some photos of the M30 I got the week before my fruitless trip to the Tulsa Arms Show.

Only one external serial number on this 1934 pistol----on the back of the barrel extension, behind the backsight.
The frame, floorplate and lockwork are all serial numbered internally.

I forgot to mention that the bore is bright with sharp rifling.
This little beauty walked into the pawnshop wrapped in a T-shirt---"My Grampie brought this back from the war."---I put my name on it the instant it became property of the shop, they traded even for a $500 Glock, by the way.
I paid a bit more than the Glock was worth, but not maximum retail. (The pawnshop is also the best gunshop in Omaha, as far as military surplus is concerned.)
Had to wait two weeks for the Police Hold to expire---not an easy two weeks.
There were some function problems the first time I took it to the range, but I expect the subsequent detail strip and cleaning will have cured that.
The thing had not been cleaned for sixty years, or so.
The follower was binding in the ways and there were loose powder grains stuck to the magazine spring---lots of them, so I expect someone lost a bullet years ago. The dried oil had glued the grains in place, but tweezers got them out.
Carried it at the Tulsa Show, looking for a buttstock---four people inquired about buying it, no buttstocks to be found.
Oh well.

Nope, not a rebarrel.
This from the C-96 site:
"This was the first C-96 variant to have an official factory designation ("Modell 1930" in German). The big changes were a reversion from the Bolo to the earlier large size; yet another safety, the Universal Safety; and what is now called the step barrel."

This is a Model 30 and the Bausch & Lomb microscope at 100x confirms this to be a machined step and not a joint.
Here's a link to the site---
