Due to an injury I have had increasing difficulty in keeping a grip safety depressed while firing, most 1911 style autos are almost un usable for me, and the same for the browning FN .32 and .380 pistols.

Is there a non invasive fix you can recommend?

I'd read of pining the safeties and of reducing the spring pressure, but I'd rather not alter a pistol, especially altering a safety.

I've considered cutting a wide band from a bicycle inner tube and stretching it over the grip to hold the safety down.
I've seen a few stretch over grip adapters for other pistols, but not for those with grip safeties.

Any suggestions?

My fingers are on the long side but the palms are not meaty and theres not much tissue in the V between thumb and fore finger.

I'd thought of gluing a thick leather spacer to the safety itself.

I've seen people force a piece of inner tube between the grip safety and frame. Keeps the safety depressed and not as visible as a slip-on. Easy enough on a 1911A1 - might be harder to install on something like an Astra 400. SW

I have an Astra 600/43 that someone added (or modified) a plastic extension on that brought the grip safety out about an 1/8 of an inch. You would not think it would help but it is a lot easier to depress then my other Astra's with grip safeties. I can dig it out and post a photo of it if you think this would help.
