I bought this old revolver from an estate at the same time I acquired my Model 1917:
It has very little of its finish left with some rust and fine pitting but it still locks up and shoots . . .
The cylinder latch has last 4 digits of serial number (don't bother asking - I don't know why the 3 looks like an 8 in this photo) and the frame has Inspector Rinaldo A. Carr's (R.A.C.) initials:

. . . bottom of the grip frame all match:
The stampings on the top . . .
. . . and left side of the barrel are legible:
After shooting this and then a .45 Long Colt its easy to understand why the military decided to go back to the drawing board and come up with something a little more "persuasive".
