Since we've been talking about them, I dug mine out. Top is from a short run of competition BHPs. IIRC, around 2000 were imported in the early 80s. Factory tuned and very accurate.

The other is my more recent 'practical'. I had Novaks added as well as the Spegel grips. I also got the enhanced leverage trigger bar. You drill a hole .250" back from the stock one & the better leverage really helps the trigger pull!

Also my Colt 1911A1. I added the mods myself. "Drop-in" 3.5# trigger group - beaver tail safety - better trigger - ambi safety. Very accurate. It needs ported but it's chrome nickeled & I'm too cheep to have the whole gun re-nickeled. SW

I've had 2 or 3 M39s but they all got traded away somehow. With plastic guns being so popular, I keep thinking I'll find another for cheep. No dice so far.

I paid 450 for the Colt several years ago & thought I spent too much. Can't touch one for that now. SW

boy you got that one right , cant touch a reral colt these days for under $1500 and if you want a nice one best be thinking $2000+ , i am particular so maybe my sights are set too high ....

but for shooting competitions i love the kimber 1911 , and the FM HP , but for carry i love the M39 , its my daily go to gun -
both outside the waisteband -

i do have holsters for the kimber and the FM but they are both cock&lock and i like the decock&hot of the M39
