I bought a pile of parts from an old gun schmidt's estate back in the day. In it were the remains of 3 Marlin model 27 & 27-S. From that pile and a few things I had on hand, I assembled and hand-fitted the rifle shown. The action parts and firing pin were NOS, and I hand fitted them closely.

The big draw back is that it's a SINGLE SHOT. The magazine tube assembly had to be one of Marlin's worst ever patents. Over the course of 5 years, I was never able to find what I needed to fix it.

But it shoots great as a single shot! The only receiver that was good enough had a dovetail milled into the top strap - possibly for a Stith mount. It's filled with lead now.

Stock is sound - no cracks. Bore is at least VG. The Marble tang sight is included, and those are pricy by themselves! The barrel has been shortened. Not much in the way of original finish except on the stock.

I carried this hiking for a couple years - very light and fits the hand well. It might be okay for badger, but I keep seeing mountain lion tracks where I go and carry a larger caliber now.

This is old enough that a C&R works. More pics on request.

$150 shipped for fellow forum members only. SW
