This one has been cut down, and it very much appears to be what Sears or Wards sold back in the day. It's quality work, and the front sight has been put into an actual dovetail.
When I got it, the firing pin dropped every time the bolt was lowered which is, of course very unsafe. Easy fix, though. I changed out the trigger group for one in my parts pile and no more problems at all!

Took it out for test firing and shot the attached group. Not bad for my elbow rest from the back of my truck @ 25 yards, I'd say. I do believe it has po-tential!
The stock is sound with no active cracks. There is a small area of replaced wood at the tang as shown. A new rear sling swivel has been added and the cleaning rod channel is filled. All this work appears to have been done very long ago.
The barrel is at least VG. Shiny with prominent rifling.
Overall, it could stand a thorough cleaning. Looks like it stood in a closet for many years. When I put the trigger group in, I did take the bolt apart & cleaned it up. Installed two missing parts = the cartridge cutoff keeper screw and "bowtie" cutoff tension spring.
All the standard caveats and disclaimers apply here. It shot well for me, but your mileage may vary - etc & so forth. If you plan to shoot it, it should be minutely inspected by someone who knows what they are doing. No warranty is expressed or implied. No returns.
