I keep forgetting to mention another factor which I believe also makes an M95 harder to operate than a Swiss K31. I am mentioning it separately so that it does not get lost in the responses.

The caming parts on the M95 are closer to rotational axis of the bolt head. This gives it a lower torque ratio and contributes to the difficulty. I haven't actually measured it, but intuitively it would be like a long arm wrench or cheater bar giving more torque than a short arm wrench for the same amount of input force. The Swiss has the caming parts farther away from the center of rotation and acts more like the longer arm wrench. Hence the larger diameter of the Swiss bolt. This is a SWAG: Scientific. Wild. Ass. Guess. as compared to a WAG. :wndr:
