Was looking for info on this rifle I brought and found this site,maybe some of you guys can identity it. For sure it is a M95 but is different from any Ive ever seen.The top of receiver is marked Budapest M95 the build date is on top of barrel but not readable on R side of Rec.and barrell at wood line are small hungarian crest.Left side of Rec.and barrel have four diget serial # with B, stock has same on R/S lower.The only other marks are are a (K) on mag housing.The front sight blade is a standard miliitary carbine dovetail, the barrel is only 19.5 inch from breach to end.It has a standard short M90 leaf sight.The front band and side mounted swivel are the rare original Karabiner type in that the screw that holds the band goes in from rt. to left with the head on Rt.side.The rear swivel is also side mounted appox 2in past trigger in stock.The stock itself is 28in long extending only 3/8 past ft band which is only 3in fwd of the finger grooves in fore stock.My first thought was that the stock had been cut down but after removing the ft. band and looking their is no signs of ever being worked on in fact the top and btm of stock have a very slight step down that the band sets in.It would have taken a master,master craftman to modify a standard military stock this perfect with no tooling marks.At first glance the rifle made me think of the old Sharps CavalryCarbine.Overall it is 39inch long.The buttplate is trash(rust) has been painted black. The only other marks on gun or stock are three even spaced 3/8 long knife noches on top rear of stock(kills?)I believe it to be still 8x50r as their are no marks to show it has been changed.Overall good cond. What ya think?
