Attention New Members and those new registering! We had a lot of problems with spammers and bot attacks with the stock measures provided by the software. The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username. If you come back on and your login does not work retry with your username without the 7. Thanks for joining us from the administration.

Blown out 7,62 X 53r (right) next to a 2-1/2" 410 shell (left)

I would say it was an attempt at a 2" 410. Not the cleanest job as there is a slight bulge about 1/2 way up.

If it extracted easily that means that it is the strength and thickness of the unannealed base kept it from expanding likewise. Would it be better to make 410 shells from 8x56R cases? Whew, at least you have something to go on now. SAAMI pressure specs for 410 are about 13,500 psi -----not very high.

What would be the issue with simply cutting down a 2 1/2" .410 and loading it? Or for that matter, hone-out the chamber for the U.S. shells?

Probably the rim not being quite large enough for the extractor to grab it
