Is anyone on the list still/are reloading for the M-95. I have questions, MY .334 bullets loaded ok, my .337 bullets caught the edges of the bullet seating die and went down into the case a bunch father. Did this happen to you???? Did you have to have over size dies made for the reloads? just curious to see if anyone is having as much fun as I am.

No problems that way for me - I bell a little more than I probably should and seat slowly. I'm using the cheep Lee dies for 8x56R and CH4D dies for 8x50R. I size everything .330 and only shoot my Steyrs with tight bores.

My Kropatscheks both have .330 bores.

BTW, I use the same Lee .329 205 grain bullet for 8x57. I size them .323 and use 20.0 grains of AA 5744 for an accurate load in my best M.95M and also my Vergueiro. SW

I use them also in My Gew 88's sized first to .323, then .321"

Stevo, The one you got has a .318 groove bore

I use a soft alloy & it works great. No gas blow-by! SW

pacmcc:

Before you can seat your .334 bullets, be aware that you must increase the size of the orifice in the seater die to accept the larger bullet. The original size of this opening is approx. .331. Some time ago, I bought an extra set of 8x56R Lee dies "just in case". To be able to load both .329/330 bullets, and .334 bullets, I modified my old set to take the .334 through the sizer. I did this with 150 grit sand paper rolled around a thick knitting needle and chucked into the cordless drill. Proceeding carefully and measuring every so often, I got it out to .335, concentric, and still crimps the bullet (if desired).

That orifice in the seater die needs to be held to close tolerances in order to keep the bullet properly aligned with the centerline of the cartridge case.

To go all the way with this conversion, you might want to buy a decapper/sizing ball assembly that is sized .333 or so. That way, the case mouth is more closely matched to the .334 bullet. You can order one from Lee. I found that my cases would take the .334 bullet without any problems or distortion when sized with the original sizer ball.

Fortunately, Lee equipment is inexpensive. I'd be a little more nervous about home mods made to RCBS (Hornady, CH/4D, etc) stuff which typically costs more.

gschwertley;, your correct. But my dies will load the .332 bullets that I'm using. my orther die turned out to be .337. and it really don't work. I Had good luck with the last batch of .332 bullets. I used 16 gr's of 2400 to get on the paper at fifty yards and then went to 18 gr's of 2400. My groups tighten up a bunch. I was getting around 2 inches at fifty yards with all five shots and 1 to 1/2 inch with 3 and 4 out of five. And that was with three different rifles. one rifle and two carbines.
18 gr's of 2400 seems to be the sweet spot , but I'll try 19gr's of 2400 and maybe 20 gr's.
I have picked up a lb. of red dot. and I'll ge trying it in the near future.
I'll send my check off monday the 5th of Jan. 09 for some more .338 bullets. to size down to .332.
I've got one carbine at the gun show with a .337 bore. yes, it's for sale. (Ican't load a bullet that big.
