Just returned from the Maumee Vallee Gun Collectors show. There is a gentleman there who has about 18-20 original boxed en-clip 10 rounds each paper patch ammunition for the Model 1886 Steyr Mannlicher. The cases are dated between 1887 and 1888. Their condition is like near new. 99% of the original grease or wax covering the lead and paper is still intact. The brass is still bright. The clips are the ribbed solid type, but no larger than the type used for the later 8X50R. He had an additional box of loose rounds. He said he would sell them by the box at $40, or the entire lot at $30 a box. I bought one box for my collection, and saved his contact info. I have a Werndl carbine (M73/77 Extra-Korps-Gewehr) that has been rechambered for the 11.15 X 58 M77 rifle cartridge |
