Post subject:  Used Swiss Rifle Seen at Local Gun Shop

While I was out on another errand today, I stopped by a gun shop that I hadn't visited in a while. In one of their racks, they had an old Swiss military rifle. It was sporterized, with the stock having be modified to eliminate the military hardware on the forward end.

This was a Swiss Model 1896/11, SN 323164, made in 1907. It had the pistol grip mod. on the original 1896 stock.

This particular rifle had been rechambered in .308 Win. The 7.5x55 cartridge is longer than the .308, so they must have sleeved the chamber of the original barrel first, then cut it back out to .308.
