Picked up this Spandau 1915 Gew 98 today. It has been re blued and the stock sanded/varnished/shellacked but the bore and headspace is great so I hope it shoots well. Bolt is mismatched but most of the other numbers match albeit forced/stamped to match. I don't know a lot about these but do love the long barreled Mausers.

Don't look to bad. Those were it the white originally. If it had been blued by the Germans the rear sight would have been changed.

Look closely at the bolt.....will probably find turk markings. The Turks received lots of these from Germany. The Turks reblued them during refurbs.

I'll take a look at the bolt tomorrow at work....it's in a solvent tank being cleaned. What kind of marks would be Turk?
