Ok, dumb question, but I've never owned any counterbored postwar rework K98k's ... was there a typical 'prescribed' depth to which these were counterbored? I'm guessing maybe between 1"-2" would be enough to get past damage at the end of the bore from cleaning rods, water droplets, oil, dirt, etc? |

It all depends on who was doing the counterboring. Some did it as standard procedure whether they needed it or not and I am unaware if everyone used the same set depth. I base this on several SA marked Finn captured M91/30s that had perfect bores, but were counterbored. |
