The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username. Recently won this at an on-line estate auction.

It looks like it could be a Standard model, mix master. Refinishing reminds me of an RC.

1--Is this a Standard Model (or what's left of one)?

2--Anyone else think this looks like a RC?

3--Assuming that the answers to 1 & 2 are yes--are RC Standard Models common?

I think they meant "standard markings" as in normal k98 markings. It looks like an RC

EDIT: although I have been wrong before. Let us know for sure when you get it

It's a Standard Model. It is also a Russian capture. It has the capture mark on the receiver, looks like an X. It's the first RC one I've seen, but I'm no expert. Nice catch!

It's also in a later stock.The Standard Models had flat butt plates and grasping grooves.

....yes-I've heard of Standard Model RC....I think it was Empire that was selling one some time back...and that IS a RC"X" on reciever...

The ruskies disassembled all captured rifles and put the parts in bins then reassembled them by just grabbing parts and putting them together.

Not sure about the straight handle business. I've got an older MMRotW that indicates that the "model 1933 SM carbine" came with a bent bolt and a recess for the bolt handle. The pics look very similar to mine, except the stock has a flat rather than cupped buttplate.
