I can't remember when I last fired the K98 Mauser. Over 30 years at least. ..and as some may know, I bought a fine German speciman from Herr Mario who then graciously sent ammo for me to experiment with as long as I promised not to use it on street lights. Holy Crap that thing kicks harder than the '03, and that darn sling hanging on the left side sure interferes with cheek weld. Don't tell too many, but after 4-5 shots, I slipped on a rubber butt pad so I could concentrate and not flinch. I shot about 5" high at 50 yards and with the 5" bulls I was using, meant I had to hold with white at 6 O'Clock. I tried Bulgarian and Romanian and the slight advantage was to the Romanian. Groups were getting better as I went along so I guess I was treating that darkish bore by copper polishing it. Twas a fun experience, no sholder bruises but as I told Mario I think the recoil loosed a few teeth and both eyes somewhat. Below the results. Yes I moved the front sight over when I got home....
