Attention New Members and those new registering!
We had a lot of problems with spammers and bot attacks with the stock measures provided by the software. The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username.
If you come back on and your login does not work retry with your username without the 7.

Thanks for joining us from the administration.

Philosophy in Reloading: Store Loaded Ammo or Components?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For years, I would load up all kinds of ammo, just to have it on hand.

Lately, I have been making a number of changes in my life; not big ones, just little ones, really. One of these changes is about my "stockpile" of reloaded ammo.

What I am now doing is, storing components, not loaded ammo. I get my brass all prepped and ready to load, so that all that is left to do are the easy parts: Priming, charging and seating. This way, I don't have to guess what my needs might be for loads in the future. Then, if my plans change, I don't have a bunch of loaded ammo that might not be the right kind at a given moment.

Maybe some reloaders have been doing this all the time, but it's new for me. Oh sure, I always have had lots of components, AND reloaded ammo. I am tending to leave most of it in components now.

Soon as I get powder, I think I just have to load it up!

At one time, if I had the cases, it got loaded. I salvaged cases from the range, and soon had storage problems with ammo. Seems I always have what I would need on hand if I had to go out and shoot. I was getting ridiculous though in making ammo that I wasn't shooting, preferring to take, the ammo that grouped better.(I had bought thousands of military pulled bullets that were grade II.) I am in the frame of mind now that all prices will skyrocket. So I am putting an effort into saving the components now and have eased off the reloading. Ive been saving cases, and trying to second guess future needs as to powder, and bullets.

I used to keep the cases primed and ready to throw in the powder and bullets but then every time I wanted to go shooting (which was usually at the last minute) I didn't have anything to shoot. Now I loaded up a whole bunch so I'll be ready for summer.

Me too, but in most cases they are rifles that I already have and I know what they like.

I load mine up to a point, then I don't need to worry about the bulk powder stored. I have the .357, .38 spcl, 9mm, .223, .308, 8mm, 7.62x54R, 7.62 Nagant .44, 500 S&W and others down good enough to load in advance for general target shooting or long range target, varmint, and hunting loads. If you have a good load that works, use it and load them. I keep enough brass and componants around to load up different stuff when I want to. Not like it's going to bad after it's loaded if it's stored properly.
