Experiments with Turkish Pull-down Powder - 7.5x55mm Swiss

I spent another afternoon at the Everett Sportsmen gun range today. I test loads for 8x57mm, 8x56R, and 7.5x55 Swiss. The results from the Swiss were by far and away the most satisfying.
I obtained a load using MY RIFLE that gave excellent results using the Turkish pull-down powder (European cut sheet).
This was a very accurate and pleasant load to shoot. Here is the data:
7.5x55mm Swiss fired in 1941 K31 rifle:
WW .284 Win case, resized to 7.5x55
150 gr. FMJ bullet, milsurp pulled from 7.62 NATO
40.0 gr. of Turkish pull-down powder from 8x57 milsurp ammo
WW standard LR primer
Average muzzle velocity 2608 fps
Standard deviation 6.48
This printed an inch and a half group. This was not the result of exhaustive testing; this was a preliminary test string of only 10 shots.
This was also my first experiment using re-sized .284W brass and it worked fine. Even with the rebated rim, it posed no problems with extraction. I bought some of these at the gun show for 10 cents each.
The muzzle velocity is within the range given in the published reloading data for comparable powders. The amount of powder used to obtain this velocity was less than comparable powders. The fired primer looked fine with no indications of high pressure, ditto the case and extraction was easy. For your own use in your own rifle, better to start at a reduced level and work up to 40.0 grains for the sake of safety.

I think reloading is a common sense based art with a lot of room for reloads like this. Granted a beginner has no place in this area.
