Conditioning new brass

When you buy bulk new rifle brass, often the mouths of the cases are not concentric, or round. The mouth of the case gets dinged up in the manufacturing and handing processes. To make the first loading of these cases easier, it is wise to run them through the sizing die just to where the expander button "rounds" them out again. A quarter of an inch will do it. Some people say to go ahead and full-length size them, but for myself, I have never found this to be necessary.

Another thing about new brass is that it sometimes is not a "standard" length and needs trimming. Check it before loading.
