More 8x57mm data

Another trip to the range yields more 8x57 data.
Hornady 150 gr spire point
48.0 gr. IMR 4350
CCI 200 primer, RP com'l case
Average muzzle velocity 2146
Standard deviation 57.27
Very accurate
Speer 150 gr spitzer
50.0 gr. IMR 4064
CCI 200 primer, RP com'l case
Avg. muz. vel. 2721
Standard deviation 29.80
Very accurate

So-so accuracy. Compare the load data using 4320 powder to the data for 4064, above. You can see that the 4320 is more efficient, in that it takes 9 grains less powder to achieve similar velocity. The fact that the 4320 load is not as accurate is disappointing, but indicates that more work should be done with this powder to find the "sweet spot."
I have liked IMR 4320 for a long time. It has produced some very accurate loads for me in .223 Rem. bolt action rifles, and has done right by me in .30-06.
One more. Here is a good light bullet load for 8x57mm.
